Keep Them Warm is an initiative that was started by a dedicated group of students in Leiden. Our primary goal is to deliver essential supplies to the Polish/Ukrainian border, provide humanitarian aid and facilitate the transport of Ukrainian refugees back to the Netherlands, while ensuring a safe haven for their stay.

MISSION AND HISTORY .
When the conflict in Ukraine broke out, a wave of concern swept through the student community, characterized by a shared sense of powerlessness. Many students had sincere intentions to contribute, but financial constraints limited their ability to make a substantial impact. In this time of uncertainty, a chance encounter brought us into contact with On My Way UA, an organization that assured us of the potential for more meaningful action. This is where our fledgling initiative began.
What began as a modest local fundraiser quickly transformed into a dedicated mission, fueled by the enthusiasm of our first group of nine students. Just two weeks after our initial meeting with On My Way UA, this team embarked on a transformative journey to the Polish/Ukrainian border. Their mission included delivering essential supplies like food, hygiene products, and clothing, helping refugees cross the border, and returning 18 refugees to the Netherlands—all in the span of a week.
What was initially intended as a one-off expedition has evolved into a passionate and unwavering commitment. The threat of a harsh Ukrainian winter, combined with increasing energy shortages and the fading of the conflict from the news, prompted us to launch Keep Them Warm in November 2022. Our central goal is twofold: to provide warmth to the people of Ukraine and to continue to draw attention to the ongoing crisis.
Our initiative aims to provide a diverse group of students with the resources and knowledge they need to launch their own impactful projects. With trips already planned for January and February, our team of volunteers continues to grow. However, to fulfill our mission, we continue to rely on the generosity of donations. These funds are essential to cover the costs of bus rental, fuel, and the purchase of specific supplies, in addition to the general goods collected. We greatly appreciate every contribution as we tirelessly continue to raise the funds needed. On My Way UA.
Keep Them Warm is an initiative of the On My Way UA foundation. The On My Way UA foundation is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce and has an ANBI status. This means that donations to the foundation may be deducted from your income tax. A threshold of 1% of your threshold income with a minimum of €60 applies. ANBI foundations are required to publish an annual financial statement within 6 months after the end of the financial year. Below you will find our annual report for 2023. The annual report for 2024 will be available before 1 July 2025.
